The Confiserie Sprüngli AG are an established company in 1836 for the production of chocolate, chocolates and pastries in Zurich .

history

The Confiserie Sprüngli AG was in 1836 by David Sprüngli and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann on Marktgasse in Zurich instead of "Confectionery bird" as Confiserie Sprüngli & Sohn founded. In 1845 they started making chocolate in their pastry shop. Business was so good that the rooms soon became too small. In 1859, Sprüngli moved into the newly built house at the Tiefenhöfe on Paradeplatz on Bahnhofstrasse .

Sprüngli acted farsightedly. The Neumarkt, as Paradeplatz was still called back then, was the commercial center of the city of Zurich with the post office and its coach traffic, but the area stood in stark contrast to the elegant, elegant face it is today: behind the post office was the scratching area where the laundresses, the prostitutes, the tinkers and the executioners lived, and where the Bahnhofstrasse runs today, the swampy frogs' pit was located until 1867 . It was extended to the lake in 1877, and the scratching quarters were completely razed by 1891. These innovations, against which many Zurich residents resisted, literally laid the foundation for today's preferred business situation.

The so-called “refreshment room” in the new Confiserie Sprüngli was particularly successful. Those who belonged to good company in Zurich met there in the afternoons for coffee and cake. The room could also be rented for events.

In 1892 Confiserie Sprüngli and the chocolate factory Lindt & Sprüngli parted ways , both of which were continued as separate companies. In 1909/1910 the shop on Paradeplatz was rebuilt first in the Art Nouveau style and again in a modern style in 1931. In 2007 the sales room was completely renovated.

management

After David Robert Sprüngli, Hermann Sprüngli, the fourth generation, took over management in 1924, and Richard Sprüngli (1916–2013) became the fifth generation in 1956 . In 1994, with two nephews Richard Sprünglis, the sixth generation took over the operational management of the company.
