Conopomorpha cramerella is a butterfly from the family of moths (Gracillariidae). It is a pest of the cocoa tree and is also referred to as cocoa pod borer , which can be translated as cocoa pod . So far it has been proven in Saudi Arabia , the People's Republic of China , India ( West Bengal and Andaman Islands ), Thailand , Brunei , Indonesia (Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java, Irian Jaya, Kalimantan, Moluccas), Vietnam , Australia , New Britain , Philippines , Samoa , Solomon Islands , Sri Lanka , Taiwan and Vanuatu .

The larvae feed on Cynometra cauliflora , Swietenia species, Dimocarpus longan , litchi chinensis , Nephelium lappaceum , Nephelium litchi , Nephelium malainse , Nephelium mutabile , Pometia TYPES (including Pometia pinnata ), colas and the cacao tree ( Theobroma cacao ). The larvae dig into the fruit, where they feed on the seeds for two to three weeks. Then they eat their way out of the fruit again and pupate.

The economic damage caused by these moths in countries with high cocoa cultivation is enormous.
