Conrad Artmüller

Conrad Artmüller (* 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian conductor .

Live and act

Conrad Artmüller studied at the Vienna Music Academy with Hans Swarowsky . From 1966 he was a member and conductor at the Vienna Volksoper for 25 years , where he directed over 800 performances and twelve premieres. From 1991 he conducted at the Vienna State Opera , where he directed 200 performances.

In 1994 Artmüller was awarded the Great Golden Decoration for Services to the State of Vienna . In 2003 he was also awarded the professional title of Professor by Thomas Klestil , the Austrian Federal President .

Conrad Artmüller has become known primarily as a composer in recent years. His setting of the “Cantico delle creature” of St. Francis of Assisi was premiered in 2009 and was performed in 2010 in the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi . His oratorio “INRI”, composed in 2010/2011, was premiered in June 2012 in Mödling near Vienna.

From 1986 to 2017 Conrad Artmüller was chief conductor of the Mödlinger Symphonic Orchestra , of which he was also artistic director.
