Conrad Zellweger (born April 21, 1631 in Teufen ; † December 17, 1695 in Trogen ; entitled to live in Teufen) was a Swiss national bag master , governor , governor and delegate from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Conrad Zellweger was a son of Johannes Zellweger and Katharina Koller. In 1654 he married Elisabeth Alder and in 1660 his second wife Elsbeth Sturzenegger, daughter of Hans Sturzenegger. Around 1648 he moved with the von Teufen family to Trogen . He was an innkeeper and a glazier . From 1668 to 1680 he officiated as state bag master and from 1680 to 1682 as federal governor in the Rhine Valley . From 1683 to 1695 he was Landammann and delegate of the Diet. Popular as the governor, all the courts gave him a farewell gift and his former subordinates asked him for advice for years. Appenzell Ausserrhoden postponed the replacement election for Mayor Pelagius Schläpfer , who died in 1680 , until Zellweger's term as governor had expired. His term of office was marked by hunger crises, new military surrenders (troop provision contracts) and several conflicts within the communes.
