Life

Johannes Zellweger was a son of Conrad Zellweger . His first wife was Elsbeth Schoch and his second Katharina Koller. He entered into a third marriage with Elisabeth Schiess. He was probably the innkeeper and glazier like his father and son. From around 1613 he lived in Teufen, around 1648 he moved to Trogen. From 1625 he was councilor and council clerk of Teufen and in 1627 mayor. From 1628 to 1642 he officiated as the landlord, from 1631 to 1644 as the delegate of the Diet and from 1642 to 1646 as the Landammann. Because he was held responsible for the introduction of the new inheritance tax, he was voted out of office in 1646.
