Consorsbank is a brand of BNP Paribas SA Niederlassung Deutschland (subsidiary of the major French bank BNP Paribas ) based in Nuremberg and Munich . The direct bank employs around 1200 people who look after around 1.5 million customers in Germany. Measured by the number of customers, Consorsbank is the fourth largest direct bank in Germany.

Logo until December 7th, 2014

In 1994, Karl Matthäus Schmidt founded Consors, a discount broker, as a branch of Schmidtbank . On February 16, 1998, the company was converted into ConSors Discount-Broker GmbH , based in Hof . After the conversion to Consors Discount-Broker Aktiengesellschaft on October 21, 1998, Consors was listed on the stock exchange from 1999 to 2002. In 2001 the bank looked after 450,000 customer accounts and expanded into Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain.

Takeover by BNP Paribas

Since the parent company SchmidtBank was struggling with economic problems, it was taken over by BNP Paribas in 2002 . The French BNP Paribas then merged the business of its own direct bank subsidiary Cortal with Consors. With the new name of Cortal Consors SA branch in Germany , the headquarters were also relocated to Nuremberg . The stock corporation was deleted from the Nuremberg commercial register on September 30, 2003. Until December 7th, 2014 the branch appeared under Cortal Consors . In November 2014, the German branch of Cortal Consors SA became part of the German branch of BNP Paribas SA

Change of name to Consorsbank

On December 8, 2014, the name was changed to Consorsbank. Since then, Consorsbank has been a registered trademark of the BNP Paribas SA branch in Germany . As of December 8, 2014, the previous green brand logo was replaced by a blue logo to support the change to the Consorsbank brand and that of the Hello Bank! to unify.

Integration of DAB Bank

From November 12th to 13th, 2016, DAB Bank's private customer online portal was switched off and all private customers were migrated to the Consorsbank portal. After the migration, many former DAB private customers expressed their displeasure because many of the DAB Bank's features and evaluation options were no longer available.

As a direct bank, Consorsbank offers a range of financial services and products. The offerings available via the internet, app and telephone range from current accounts and overnight money accounts through securities trading to retirement insurance , pension products and loans .
