Constance Talmadge
Constance Alice Talmadge (born April 19, 1898 in Brooklyn , New York , † November 23, 1973 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress of the silent film era .
Life
Her father left Constance, her mother and their two other daughters Natalie Talmadge and Norma Talmadge . So the four women were left to fend for themselves economically. After her sister Norma had acted in films from 1909 and was thus successful, Constance Talmadge decided to become an actress as well. While Norma mainly concentrated on dramatic subjects, Constance Talmadge was mainly cast in comedies.
In August 1915, the Talmadge family moved to Hollywood , where Constance received initial positive reviews for her appearance in Intolerance by director David Wark Griffith . In the same year, the actress became the sister-in-law of the film producer and later President of the United Artists Joseph Schenck through his marriage to Norma. The comedian was also Constance's brother-in-law through the marriage between Buster Keaton and Natalie Talmadge.
Constance Talmadge did not appear in any talkies and ended her career in 1929.
