Constant Griebel
Constant Griebel (born January 16, 1876 in Coburg , † December 7, 1965 in Berlin ) was a German food chemist . For a long time he was department head at the State Institute for Food, Drug and Forensic Chemistry in Berlin-Charlottenburg and, in addition to numerous individual publications, also has the book Microscopy of Food and Beverage from the Plant Kingdom (Moeller, Griebel; Springer-Verlag) in a third Edition revised and published.
Life
Griebel attended the Casimirianum Coburg until 1893, trained as a pharmacist in Coburg, Erfurt and Mainz, and enrolled at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1899 . His academic teachers included Adolf von Baeyer , Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen , Karl Ritter von Goebel and Albert Hilger .
In 1900 he received his pharmaceutical license in Munich; In 1903 he was at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University doctorate to Dr. phil. ; Dissertation: About the coffee tanning agent . In July of that year, Griebel went to Berlin to the State Institute for the Examination of Food and Beverage, as well as Utensils for the State Police District of Berlin .
During the First World War Griebel was a corps staff pharmacist of the 3rd Guards Corps Regiment Berlin. In 1924 he was appointed a scientific member and professor, in June 1928 he was appointed department head at the State Food Research Institute in Berlin. He worked there until 1949, but sat in for another 10 years as a freelance scientist at his old workplace.
In recognition of his decades of work, he received a certificate from the Ludwig Maximilians University in 1953 to renew his doctorate .
He received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and in May 1952 the Joseph König commemorative coin .
Work
Griebel worked on the handbook of food chemistry , the handbook of biological working methods , author of the third edition of Möller / Griebel: Microscopy of Food and Beverage from the Plant Kingdom (1928) and the book Spices and Spice Mixtures (1954). His numerous scientific publications appeared from 1905 in the magazine for the investigation of food and luxury goods, as well as the commodities , Springer-Verlag, as well as in the Apotheker-Zeitung , later Deutsche Apotheker-Zeitung , as well as microchemistry , nutrition and others. These 400 or so publications were mainly in the areas of pharmaceutical and food chemistry and microscopy. Until 1963 he worked on the publication of the magazine for food research and research .
