Life

Constantin I. Parhon became professor of neurology and director of the mental hospital in Iași in 1913 . In 1918 he founded the Research Society for Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychology in the town. In 1921 the research company was expanded to include endocrinology. 1934-1940 and since 1945 he was professor of endocrinology at the University of Bucharest.

Parhon was a member of the Grand National Assembly (Rum. Marea Adunare Națională a RPR ). After Michael I's abdication , Parhon was elected chairman of the five-member "High Presidium" and thus head of state of Romania. On April 15, 1948, he was re-elected. On June 2, 1952, he resigned on the grounds that he would devote more time to his scientific studies.

In 1939 Parhon became a member of the Romanian Academy . In 1947 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1956 he became a corresponding and 1969 foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR .
