Constitución is a city in Uruguay .

location

It is located in the Salto Department on the east bank of the Uruguay River . Down the river south lies the capital of the department, Salto . Belén is located north of Constitución . South of the city, the Arroyo Itapebí Grande flows into the Embalse Salto Grande reservoir .

history

Constitución was officially founded on July 11th, 1852 under Law No. 297.

The population of Constitución is 2,762 (as of 2011), 1,370 of them male and 1,392 female. This makes it the second largest city in the department in this regard.
