Hopa ( Laz : Xopa; Georgian ხოფა, ხუფათი ( Chupati ); Russian Хопа ; as Chopta or Chopa known) is a town in the province of Artvin on the Black Sea in northeastern Turkey . The city of Hopa is home to around 80 percent of the district's population.

The district Hopa is the second smallest province, but has the highest population density. The county is located in the northeast corner of the province and borders Georgia . One of the two Turkish-Georgian border crossings is located at the national border. This is located around 15 km from the city of Hopa near the village of Sarp and is called Sarp Sınır Kapısı. The highest point of the district is 1,513 m of Yavuz Sultan Selim mountain that after the Ottoman Sultan Selim I is named.

In addition to the district town, the district also includes 16 villages ( Köy ) with an average population of 317 inhabitants. Başoba is the largest village with 546 inhabitants.
