Cook is an impact crater on the front of the moon on the southwestern edge of Mare Fecunditatis , southeast of Colombo crater and northeast of Monge . The rim of the crater has been eroded and the interior has been filled with the lavas of the Mare .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the English explorer James Cook .
