Monge is an impact crater to the east of the lunar front , on the southeastern edge of Mare Fecunditatis , southwest of Cook crater and northeast of Santbech . The crater rim is irregularly shaped, moderately eroded and the interior shows concentric structures.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician Gaspard Monge .
