The Coombs Hills are an area of rugged and largely snow-free hills and valleys in East Antarctic Victoria Land . They are located between the Odell Glacier and the Cambridge Glacier .
The New Zealand northern group of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) discovered them in 1957 and named them after the New Zealand mineralogist and petrologist Douglas Saxon Coombs (* 1924) from the University of Otago , who helped the expedition to provide petrological equipment.
