Paul Maurer (born May 22, 1996 in Bernau near Berlin ) is a German football player . He has been playing for FSV Union Fürstenwalde since the 2019/20 season and is mostly used on the right wing as a winger.

Career

Youth and FC Energie Cottbus

Paul Maurer played for BFC Dynamo in his youth . Then he came to FC Energie Cottbus, where he played for the U-17 and later for the A-Juniors. In July 2014 Maurer received a contract for the second team from FC Energie Cottbus , and the professional contract followed a year later. He was mostly used in the club's second team.

On August 3, 2014, he made his debut in the 4-0 defeat against VfL Halle 1896 in the reserve of Energie Cottbus. In this game in the Oberliga Nordost he would be called up by Vragel da Silva in the starting lineup. He scored his first goal for the Cottbus reserve a week later on August 10, 2014 in the 1: 2 defeat against FC Eisenach . In the 5th minute he had brought the Cottbusers 1-0 lead. He played his 50th and last game for the Energie Cottbus second team on June 5, 2016 against Inter Leipzig . He was called up by Matthias Heidrich in the starting line-up and scored the 1-1 final score in the 40th minute.

On May 9, 2015, he played for the first team of 1. FC Energie Cottbus in the 3rd division and made his professional debut. In the 0-3 defeat against Borussia Dortmund's reserves , he was substituted on by coach Stefan Krämer in the 75th minute for Nikolas Ledgerwood .

1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig

On May 6, 2016 it was announced that Paul Marer will leave FC Energie Cottbus for the new season and move to 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . He made his debut for his new club on July 31, 2016 in the game against his ex-club Energie Cottbus in the Regionalliga Nordost . In the 1-1 draw, Maurer was called up by coach Heiko Scholz in the starting line-up. He scored his first goal in the Regionalliga Nordost on August 10, 2016 in a 2-1 win against FSV Wacker 90 Nordhausen . In the 57th minute, Maurer scored the interim 1: 1 equalization. He did not extend his contract with Leipzig, which expired on June 30, 2018. Loks thus left the club at the end of the season with eleven goals this season, the top scorer of the 2017/18 season.
