The 13th Copa América de Ciclismo , an annual Brazilian road bike race since 2001 , took place on January 6, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro . The one-day race was part of the UCI America Tour , where it was classified in Category 1.2, and the Brazilian National Ranking. The Argentine Francisco Chamorro won the Copa for the third time after 2009 and 2012 after 110 kilometers.

In addition to the men's race, there was also a competition for women, which was part of the Brazilian national calendar.

Track and course of the race

The start and finish of each lap was at the memorial to those who fell in World War II . From there the route led along the east coast of Rio de Janeiro until a turning point was reached, after which the path led back to the monument to the fallen. The drivers had to complete this twelve-kilometer lap nine times. The race ended after about two and a half hours in a mass sprint, which the Argentine Francisco Chamorro ( Funvic-Pindamonhangaba ) won as in the previous year. He left the two Brazilians Nilceu Santos (also Funvic-Pindamonhangaba) and Kleber Ramos (both Clube DataRo de Ciclismo ) behind. 36 drivers gave up the race, one did not start.
