Copec is a Chilean company headquartered in Las Condes .

Copec is active in the oil industry. Copec is also a leader in the distribution of fuels and lubricants in Chile and, through its subsidiary Celulosa Arauco , large areas of forest are cultivated and cellulose and paper mills are operated. The company's president is Roberto Angelini Rossi.

On October 31, 1934, the Chilean company Co mpañía de Pe tróleos de C hile (Copec) was founded. The company's first president was Pedro Aguirre Cerda , who later became president of Chile.

In 1986 the group of companies led by Anacleto Angelini took over 41% of the shares in Copec. After his death, his nephew Roberto Angelini Rossi became President of Copec.

Corporate criticism

Copec's Celulosa Arauco subsidiary is critically viewed as a leader in the deforestation of Chilean forests and has repeatedly made headlines for its water pollution.
