Las Condes is a municipality in the Province of Santiago , Chile . It belongs to the Gran Santiago agglomeration and is considered a district of Santiago.
In Las Condes live 249,893 inhabitants, which are divided into 74,599 households. Generally speaking, Las Condes is one of the richest communities in Chile. The inhabitants of the community are mostly of European origin and some still have German , French, Italian, Arabic or Croatian surnames.
The municipality of Las Condes borders to the north by Av. Presidente Kennedy to the parishes of Vitacura , to the northeast by Lo Barnechea , to the south by Av. Francisco Bilbao to La Reina and to the west by Av. Tobalaba to Providencia . Las Condes is right at the foot of the Andes and the political area of the community even in the Andes.
economy
The largest banking center in Chile is located between Andrés Bello streets and the El Golf district, and is also called Sanhattan based on the New York district of Manhattan .
For the past few years, Alonso de Córdova , Presidente. Riesgo is developing another area with many high-rise office buildings. Due to the many jobs in the community, there is a daily traffic collapse during rush hour . Las Condes is well connected to the rest of Santiago by two metro lines.
For the end of 2017, the commissioning of a tram line , approved in 2009, was planned to connect Las Condes from the metro station "Manquehue" to the neighboring community of Lo Barnaechea over a 9-kilometer route. However, the project was not realized and postponed indefinitely.

In Las Condes , the sports club is Club Deportivo Universidad Católica and the sports stadium Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo .
politics
Joaquín Lavín Infante ( Unión Demócrata Independiente ) is currently the incumbent mayor of Las Condes. Traditionally, the conservative Unión Demócrata Independiente has large majorities in the community.
