Recoleta is a municipality in Chile . It is located in the northern part of the city of Santiago de Chile , Chile's capital . It is part of the Province of Santiago , which belongs to the Metropolitana de Santiago Region .

It borders the municipality of Huechuraba to the north, the municipalities of Independencia and Conchalí to the west, the municipalities of Providencia and Vitacura to the east , with Mount San Cristóbal forming a geographical barrier and to the south with the municipality of Santiago, delimited by the Mapocho River .

In the 2017 census, Recoleta had a population of 157,851.
