This is a list of the parishes in Chile , sorted alphabetically and by population.
Municipalities by population
The following table shows the municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants according to the status of the census of 2012 or 2002, the results of the census of April 22, 1992 and April 24, 2002, the area and the region and province to which the Municipality belongs, listed. The population figures refer to the municipality within its political limits, without politically independent suburbs.

Alphabetical overview
There are 346 communities ( comunas ) in Chile . The municipalities - the largest is Natales with 49,924.10 square kilometers - partly have the area of German federal states . They usually consist of several localities.
The municipality of Antártica with an area of 1,250,000 square kilometers is located in the Antarctic territory claimed by Chile . Like all claims in Antarctica south of the 60th parallel, the area is not internationally recognized because it falls under the Antarctic Treaty , which forbids any sovereignty on the part of a state on the Antarctic territory.
