Until 2001, the name of the company was Empresa Electrica Colbun Machicura SA Colbún operates numerous power plants in the most important Chilean network , the SIC . The company is listed on the Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago stock exchange in Santiago de Chile and is included in the CHILE 65 index .
Revenues for the year 2014 at 1.503 billion USD , the profit was 80 million USD. In 2012 Colbún was able to sell a total of 11.39 billion kWh , in the following year it was 12.842 billion kWh.
history
The history of Colbún begins in the early 1980s with the construction of the Colbún and Machicura power plants by the then state electricity supplier Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA Chile (ENDESA). In April 1986, Empresa Electrica Colbun Machicura SA (EEC) is spun off from ENDESA. On September 1, 1986, the EEC is registered as a stock corporation. The name of the company is changed to Colbún SA in 2001 . In 2005 Colbún merged with Hidroeléctrica Cenelca SA , making Minera Valparaíso SA the main shareholder of Colbún.

Colbún operates a number of hydro and caloric power plants in Chile . All power plants are located in the area of the most important Chilean interconnected network, the SIC . Concerning. of the installed capacity , Colbún is the second largest electricity producer in SIC after ENDESA with a share of around 20%.
