Futaleufú (from mapudungún fütra "big" and ḻewfu / lhewfu "river") is a Chilean community in the Región de los Lagos .

The eponymous river Río Futaleufú flows through the municipality. It is one of the most attractive kayaking and rafting rivers in Patagonia . The main economic activities are livestock, forestry and tourism. The tourist attractions include the Río Futaleufú and the lakes Espolón, Loncanao, Noroeste, Las Rosas. The municipality is divided into seven sectors: urban Futaleufú and six rural ones: El Azul, Espolón, Lonconao, Noroeste, Río Chico, y Las Escalas.

In Futaleufú there is a temperate oceanic climate (according to Köppen-Geier Cfb). Winters are cool and humid; summers are drier and milder. The main season for tourism is summer (December – February). The annual average temperature is 9.5 ° C. Spread over the year, an average of 2014 mm of precipitation falls.
