Penco is a city in Chile with 47,367 inhabitants (as of 2017). It is located in the Concepción agglomeration of the Región del Bío-Bío . The area is 107.60 km². The city ​​council is Víctor Hugo Figueroa . Together with the port city of Lirquen, 20 inhabitants, it forms the municipality of Penco-Lirquen.

Penco was founded as Concepción in 1550 and almost completely destroyed in the Concepción earthquake in 1570 . Concepción was later rebuilt about 15 km inland. In 1842 the town of Penco was re-established as "Villa de Penco".
