Here the mother married the 25 years older German driver Paul Herbsthofer, who adopted the two children. It was more by chance that she got into acting when she was approached by acquaintances about a casting for a new Tatort episode. In the years that followed, the native Kenyan was largely calm in terms of acting. It wasn't until 2016 that Herbsthofer, who, in addition to her first mother tongue Swahili and her second mother tongue German, also speaks fluent English and has basic knowledge of French , returned to regular assignments as an actress. For example, she took part in an episode of the US series Berlin Station , which was mainly filmed in Germany , in which she can be seen in the role of Yasmin in the fifth episode of the first season entitled Under Pressure . In the same year she made her debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she worked on the music theater project Neuland , in which 22 refugees and 22 young people from Berlin took part. In 2017, Tobias Mrosek directed the lead and title role in the short film Yamina , in which she mimes a Nigerian girl who is about to be deported .
