Cord Hachmann ( March 12, 1848 in Hamburg - May 24, 1905 there ) was a German theater actor and director .

Life

After the son of a laborer had devoted himself to the trade and went on business trips that took him as far as Mexico, he devoted himself to the stage in 1864 without ever having taken any dramatic lessons.

He began his career in Hamburg, then was engaged as a hero lover and bon vivant in Flensburg, Halle, Bremerhaven, Viktoriatheater Berlin , Bremen, Sondershausen , Aachen and Heidelberg .

In addition to his acting activities, he was always interested in directing. In 1890 he therefore accepted a call as a director at Freie Bühne Berlin . In 1891 he worked as chief director at the Thaliatheater in New York, from 1893 to 1897 in the same capacity at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and followed a call as chief director at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg .

Hachmann was seriously ill with nerves and was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery .

He was married to the actress Martha Zipser from 1891 .
