Corday Morgan Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Corday Morgan Prize , known as the Corday Morgan Medal until 2008 , is a science prize that has existed since 1949 and is awarded by the British professional association Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) for meritorious contributions in the field of chemistry .

Awards are made annually by an RSC Honors Working Group to up to three recipients who are under 40 on the nomination date and who are expected to be working in the UK . The prize is endowed with prize money of £ 5,000 and consists of a medal and a certificate. It goes back to the British chemist Gilbert Thomas Morgan , who decided to set up a memorial fund in his estate , which is named after his parents Thomas Morgan and Mary-Louise Corday. The number of possible recipients was initially increased to two years in 1964 and three years later.

So far, four winners have received a Nobel Prize in the further course of their careers .
