description

The villa is isolated on the left bank of the Clyde about two kilometers south of Lanark. The English architect Edward Blore was responsible for the design of the corehouse, which was built between 1824 and 1827 . The builder was George Cranstoun, Lord Corehouse . The two-story villa is designed in the Tudor Gothic style. It is considered to be Blore's first work in which he attempted to recreate a country villa in the Cotswold style . In his further work he should pursue this style often.

The two-story corehouse is constructed asymmetrically. It rests on a raised terrace with a stone balustrade . The masonry is embossed . A striking tower with an octagonal floor plan rises up on the south-west side . The mostly three or four-part lattice windows are partly coupled to form twin or triple windows . Lukarnen protrude into the slate-covered gable roofs .
