Until June 1, 1909, Usingen was the end of the trains from Bad Homburg. Then the extension of the Usinger Bahn via Grävenwiesbach to Weilmünster was put into operation and the Usingen station became a through station . On November 1, 1912, the Solmsbachtalbahn from Grävenwiesbach to Albshausen and on to Wetzlar was opened as an extension of the Usinger Bahn . In addition to the connection to Frankfurt, Usingen also received a connection to Wetzlar.

According to a plan from 2005, the central platform in Usingen station was extended to such an extent that train units of four VT 2E multiple units or three LINT 41 were possible. In November 2007, two additional train destination displays were installed on the platform . The freight to and from Usingen was set November 5 2000th

Reception building

Entrance building around 1900

The reception building of the Usingen train station is now a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . The renovated train station houses a bakery branch and a sales kiosk with an RMV advance booking point. The address of the station is Bahnhofstraße 32 .

The reception building consists of a two-story main building to which a slightly recessed single-story auxiliary building is attached. The axially arranged arched openings and hipped roofs are striking . The building is emphasized vertically by corner pilasters . The facade is divided horizontally by the base zone, belts on the parapet and fighter level and a German band . It is a type construction, corresponding to the Friedrichsdorf train station .

On the north side there was originally another extension and a goods hall. This hall was destroyed in a fire.

Other plants

The central signal box of the Taunusbahn is located in Usingen. Trains are parked, reinforced, shortened and also refueled on the total of four platform-free tracks.

There used to be a loading point for the 4 km long narrow-gauge railway to the Geyseritwerk (today Bremthaler Quarzitwerk ) and a siding of the Raiffeisen .

Behind Usingen, the Taunusbahn section begins with the steepest gradient (up to 21.47 ‰), the end of which, at 390 meters above sea level, is the neighboring Wilhelmsdorf station .
