The Corel DESIGNER is a vector-based graphics editing software . The DESIGNER originally comes from Micrografx and was first marketed under the product name In-a-vision . The name DESIGNER was only used from version 3. After version 8, Micrografx was renamed Igrafx and bought by Corel in 2001 . The program was named Corel Designer from 2002 under the update 9.02. The designer always included the Picture Publisher , a grid-oriented graphics program comparable to Corel Photo Paint under CorelDRAW . Picture Publisher was also licensed cheaply as a single application to various OEM partners, for example it was offered with various web hosting packages or was included with the driver CDs for scanners or digital cameras .
The last version manufactured by Micrografx was 9.0 in 2001. This product was later sold as Corel DESIGNER 9.02. Version 9.0 or 9.02 is still often used, as many experienced users have come to terms with the changes introduced by Corel in the new version ( e.g. look and feel similar to CorelDRAW ) and e.g. B. the insufficient dsf import filter for the opening and processing of old files up to version 9.0 (e.g. the import of the individual levels is missing) are dissatisfied.
Corel DESIGNER is particularly suitable for creating technical drawings and technical illustrations, but offers just as many functions for graphic design .

Normally, the old formats can be read across at least two versions. The import of old files almost always leads to changes in the drawing.
