Cornelia Nath

Cornelia Nath (born June 14, 1954 ) is a Low German language activist and heads the Plattdütskbüro of the East Frisian Landscape in Aurich.

Life

Nath studied political science and Romance studies and has been working for the East Frisian landscape since 1988. Since 1997 she has been head of the Low German section in the Lower Saxony Homeland Association , and since 2002 she has represented the Low German speakers of the State of Lower Saxony in the Federal Council for Low German . From 1999 to 2006 Nath was a member of EBLUL Germany, in 2005 and 2006 a member of the European board of EBLUL. Cornelia Nath is known for her commitment to early multilingualism in children and for the use of Low German in kindergartens, schools and in everyday work.

In 2008 she was awarded the Keerlke Prize for this.
