Cornelis Zwikker

Cornelis Zwikker (born August 19, 1900 in Zaandam , † April 20, 1985 in Zwijndrecht ) was a Dutch physicist.

The son of Klaartje and Klaas Zwikker studied chemistry and natural history at the University of Amsterdam from 1918 . From 1923 to 1929 he was a research assistant at NV Philips in Eindhoven. In 1925 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the properties of tungsten at high temperatures. In 1929 he was appointed professor of theoretical physics at the Delft University of Technology . He researched the acoustic design of buildings. In 1945 he took the position of Technical Director at Philips . 1956-1970 he was a professor in Eindhoven .
