Cornelius of Hanau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cornelius von Hanau (* between 1480 and 1484; † 1549 ) was an illegitimate son of Count Ludwig von Hanau-Lichtenberg (* 1464 - † 1484). The mother's name is not known.

origin

The paternity of Ludwig von Hanau-Lichtenberg is proven by his will of April 17, 1484, in which he mentions his two sons, including Cornelius, and calls on his brother, the ruling Count Philip II of Hanau-Lichtenberg, to send them in Duly furnished in the event of his death.

care

Cornelius of Hanau was 1511 and again in 1539 with half of the Château du Petit-Arnsberg that the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg belonged, and others invested .

family

Cornelius married Anna von Kogenheim (life dates not known), who had previously been married to a Count von Sulz and then to Georg Bernhold in her third marriage, a marriage that resulted in two more children. From the marriage of Cornelius von Hanau and Anna von Kogenheim it emerged:

  • Philipp Ludwig von Hanau (* approx. 1540). He was Hanauischer Rat, bailiff in Buchsweiler (today: Bouxwiller) and his first marriage to Regina Gemper (life data not known), his second marriage to Elisabeth Riedesel von Bellersheim. Since no children resulted from these marriages, this branch of the family died out. Philipp Ludwig von Hanau was also enfeoffed with half of Klein-Arnsburg Castle (1549, 1565 and 1591).
