Cornet Island (from English cornet ' cornet ' ) is an island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Biscoe Islands archipelago , it is 2.5 km northeast of Milnes Island along the west side of the Grandidier Channel .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill , carried out an initial survey of the island. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave it the descriptive name in 1959, based on its form appearing from the air.
