Cornus was a Punic- Roman city on the west coast of Sardinia in the province of Oristano .

Cornus was probably in the 6th century BC. BC and was protected by strong fortifications. In the course of the Sardinian uprising under Hampsicora and Hiostus against Rome in 215 BC. After the battle of Cornus the city was destroyed by Titus Manlius Torquatus . During the Roman Empire, Cornus was initially a Municipium , and Colonia since the 2nd century . There were public buildings such as thermal baths and an aqueduct .

In the 4th century AD, the early Christian city of Columbaris was near Cornus . There was an important Christian center around one of the oldest churches in Sardinia, a three-aisled basilica with an apse with a baptismal font in the middle . There are also the remains of other buildings and a necropolis . During the time of the judges (9th century) the place was finally abandoned.
