The coro per resistencia is a mixed chamber choir that is based in Nürtingen . The choir owes its foundation to a series of concerts by the Max Planck Gymnasium in Nürtingen for the benefit of the Resistencia social center in Argentina. In 1981 the choir first appeared at such a concert.

In the early years, the coro per resistencia was primarily dedicated to the choral literature of the Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis . Most of the projects tried to combine cultural, musical and social engagement. For example, concerts were held to commemorate the November pogroms in 1938 or the end of the war. In this context, a concert tour through the People's Republic of Poland in the autumn of 1989 to commemorate the German attack on Poland 50 years ago with radio and television appearances should also be emphasized .

In 1993 the choir represented the Federal Republic of Germany at an international choir meeting in Montpellier, southern France, with choirs from France, Spain, Italy and Germany. In 1997 the coro per resistencia was invited by the Süddeutscher Rundfunk to make a complete recording of the song cycle “Mauthausen” by Mikis Theodorakis. In 2000 the choir performed Mikis Theodorakis' “ Canto General ” in full for the first time . Other program highlights were performances of Michael Tippett's “Child of our time” or Duke Ellington's “Sacred concert”, last performed in February 2013.

The coro per resistencia combines musical and socio-political aspects with these programs. Little-known works of music literature are repeatedly “dug up” or interesting and unusual projects such as the 2007 “RevueMenue” arise. In recent years concert programs with works by female composers, Scandinavian or Brazilian choral music have been created.

Occasionally, the coro per resistencia also performs scenic works, both in-house ( Purcell : Dido and Aeneas , 1987) and as part of the Nürtingen Opera Air Festival (Purcell: The Fairy Queen , 1999; Handel : Semele , 2013 ).

From 1981 to 2010 the coro per resistencia was directed by the Stuttgart church musician Peter Lauterbach, in September 2010 the Stuttgart conductor Felix Schuler-Meybier took over the direction of the choir, in April 2015 Fabian Wöhrle.
