Corryocactus charazanensis is a species of plant in the genus Corryocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet charazanensis refers to the occurrence of the species near the Bolivian place Charazani .

description

Corryocactus charazanensis grows with branched shoots from the base and reaches heights of 1 to 2 meters. The columnar, fresh green shoots are tapered towards their tips and have a diameter of 4 to 5 centimeters. There are four to five low ribs that are slightly notched on the back. The approximately eleven spread to protruding, awl thorns cannot be divided into central and radial thorns. The shortest of them are up to 0.5 centimeters, the longest up to 2.5 centimeters long.

The pink to salmon colored flowers are up to 6 centimeters long. The spherical fruits are covered with long thin thorns and reach a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Corryocactus charazanensis is widespread in the Bolivian department of La Paz at altitudes of 3000 meters.

The first description was in 1957 by Martín Cárdenas .
