Cory Gibbs (born January 14, 1980 in Fort Lauderdale ) is a retired American football player .

Career

Gibbs moved to FC St. Pauli in 2001 . With FC St. Pauli, he was relegated from the first German Bundesliga to the second division ; In 2003 they even got relegated to the then third-class regional league . In January 2004 he moved back to the United States, where Gibbs joined the Texas club Dallas Burn . After only a year he moved back to Europe and signed with the Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam . For the second half of the 2005/06 season Gibbs was loaned to ADO Den Haag . For the 2006/07 season he moved to the then English Premier League club Charlton Athletic , with whom he was relegated from the Premier League in 2007. After two years at Charlton without commitment, Gibbs returned to the US in 2008, where he signed with Colorado Rapids . In 2010 it went to New England Revolution , only to switch to Chicago Fire after a short time . On November 26, 2012 Gibbs announced the end of his professional career. Gibbs made his debut on June 8, 2003 in the US national soccer team . He was substituted on in a friendly against New Zealand.
