Coryphantha grata is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet grata comes from Latin , means 'appealing' or 'pleasing' and refers to the appearance of the plants.

Coryphantha grata grows individually with spherical, cloudy, dark green shoots that are flattened at the apex and that reach heights of up to 9 centimeters with a diameter of 10 centimeters. Their roots are carrot-like. The somewhat flaccid, round and up to 20 millimeters long warts have a noticeable furrow. The axillae, which were initially woolly, later bald. They carry nectar glands . The single central spine is strong, needle-like, stiff and directed downwards. It is pointed yellow and dark. The central spine turns gray with age and is 1.5 to 2 centimeters long. The eleven to twelve also needle-like, stiff and straight radial spines are dirty white and have a darker tip. They are 0.8 to 1.1 inches long.

The funnel-shaped, shiny, bright yellow flowers reach a diameter of up to 5.5 centimeters. The elongated egg-shaped fruits are green and whitish at their base. They have a length of up to 2.5 centimeters and a diameter of 1.2 to 1.4 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Coryphantha grata is common in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas .

The first description by Lewis Bremer was published in 1981. Reto F. Dicht and Adrian D. Lüthy treated the Coryphantha grata 2001 as a synonym of Coryphantha georgii .
