Coryphantha georgii is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The epithet georgii honors the Mexican cactus collector Erich Georgi from Saltillo .
description
Coryphantha georgii grows individually. The flattened, spherical shoots , covered by the thorns, reach heights of growth of up to 4 centimeters and a diameter of 7 centimeters. The top of the shoot is woolly. The up to 12 millimeter long warts stand together loosely and are conical in shape. The axillae are covered with wool and have nectar glands . The one to four gray central spines are stiff, slightly curved upwards and up to 2 centimeters long. The eight to nine needle-like, greyish white radial spines have a darker tip and lengths of up to 1.2 centimeters.
The flowers are cream or white with a light green throat. They are 2 to 3.5 inches long and reach the same diameter.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Coryphantha georgii is common in the Mexican states of San Luis Potosí , Guanajuato and Tamaulipas on slopes and plains on lava floors and in oak forests.
The first description by Friedrich Bödeker was published in 1931.
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
