Harry Rudolf Buchmayr (born January 6, 1957 in Ampfing ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and works council . From 2011 to 2017 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Buchmayr attended elementary school from 1963 to 1967 and then moved to a secondary school until 1971. After attending a polytechnic course between 1971 and 1972, he learned the profession of chemical laboratory assistant from 1972 to 1976, while attending a vocational school at the same time. After his community service, which he performed between 1976 and 1977, he worked between 1977 and 1979 in the “Rolling Mill Production” department of Austria Metall (AMAG) in Ranshofen . From 1980 to 1992, he worked as a clerk in metal analysis. At the same time he continued his education in his professional field and passed the master's examination for technical chemistry and environmental measurement technology between 1985 and 1987. In 1992 he switched to research and development as a clerk for method development until he took over as head of metal analysis in 1996. In 2008 Buchmayr also took on the role of Chairman of the Works Council at AMAG Casting.

Buchmayr attended the Quality Technology II course of the Austrian Association for Quality Assurance in 1992 and passed the entrepreneurial examination in 1996. In 1999 he passed the vocational matriculation examination.

Political career

Buchmayr is involved in local politics and was active as a councilor for traffic for the municipality of Braunau am Inn from 2003 to 2011 . On January 20, 2011, he succeeded the resigned MP to the National Councilor Marianne Hagenhofer and has been a member of Braunau's municipal council since then. Furthermore, since 2004 he has been a member of the state education committee of the SPÖ Upper Austria and since 2011 a member of the state party board of the SPÖ Upper Austria. He also holds the chairmanship of the SPÖ in the Braunau am Inn district, is a delegate to the Federal Forum and the Upper Austria Regional Forum of the Union of Private Employees , a member of the board of the SPÖ in the city of Braunau and district education chairman of the SPÖ Braunau.

Buchmayr was elected to the Human Rights Committee and the Science Committee in 2011. In the legislative period up to 2013, he was also a substitute member of the Committee for Economy and Industry and the Education Committee.
