Coryphantha pusilliflora is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet pusilliflora is derived from the Latin words pusillus for 'tiny' and -florus for 'blooming'.

description

Coryphantha pusilliflora grows solitary or sprouts from the base. The ovoid to cylindrical, forest green shoots reach heights of up to 12 centimeters with diameters of 5 to 6 centimeters. The apex of the shoot is rounded and somewhat depressed. The upright, conical warts , broadened at their base , later become rhombic. They are noticeably furrowed. The single thin, awl, straight, stiff central spine protrudes and is somewhat widened at the base. It turns gray with age and is 1.1 to 1.3 inches long. The 18 to 20 white to yellow, 0.6 to 1 centimeter long radial spines have a darker tip and turn gray over time. They are needle-like, a little stiff, and straight.

The funnel-shaped magenta colored flowers have a greenish white throat. They reach a diameter of up to 2 centimeters. The elongated green fruits have lengths of up to 1.4 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Coryphantha pusilliflora is common in the Mexican state of Coahuila near El Marte .

The first description by Lewis Bremer was published in 1982. Reto F. Dicht and Adrian D. Lüthy treated Coryphantha pusilliflora in 2001 as a synonym of Coryphantha pseudoechinus .
