Coryphantha pseudoechinus initially grows individually, later branches out profusely and forms low groups. The egg-shaped, greyish-green to grass-green shoots turn gray-green with age. The one to three conspicuous, sometimes not quite centrally arranged central spines are brown or black. They are ascending, very rigid and 1.3 to 2 inches long.
