Coryphantha vogtherriana is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Coryphantha vogtherriana grows individually or forms low groups with spherical, dark green to blue-green shoots that reach heights of up to 3 centimeters with diameters of 5 to 6 centimeters and which are usually sunk deep into the ground. The conical to egg-shaped, loosely standing warts are up to 1.7 centimeters long. The densely covered axillae have nectar glands . There is a hooked, protruding or ascending, horn-colored central spine of up to 1.7 centimeters in length. The 4 to 6 needle-like, horizontally radiating, 7 to 14 millimeter long radial spines are whitish with a darker tip.
The flowers are light yellow and can reach a diameter of up to 3 centimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Coryphantha vogtherriana is common in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí on flat slopes in loamy grasslands at altitudes of about 2000 meters.
The first description was published in 1932 by Erich Werdermann and Friedrich Bödeker .
Coryphantha vogtherriana was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Critically Endangered (CR) , d". H. critically endangered, classified. In 2013 it was named “ Least Concern (CR) ”. H. listed as not endangered.
