Coryphantha werdermannii is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Coryphantha werdermannii usually grows individually with spherical, egg-shaped or short cylindrical, light gray-green shoots that reach heights of 7 to 9 centimeters with a diameter of 6 to 7 centimeters. The conical to cylindrical, ascending, solid warts are up to 1.5 centimeters long. The axillae are bare. The four stiff, strongly protruding, strongly curved and only sometimes straight central spines are whitish to tan to black. They are 1.3 to 2.5 inches long. The 21 to 24, sometimes more, radial spines are somewhat comb-like, thin, whitish to tan and 8 to 19 millimeters long.

The flowers are shiny yellow. They are up to 5 centimeters long and 6 to 7 centimeters in diameter. The green fruits are up to 1 centimeter long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Coryphantha werdermannii is widespread on gravelly slopes and plains in the Mexican state of Coahuila .

The first description was published in 1929 by Friedrich Bödeker .

Coryphantha werdermannii is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
