Population development

Income from tourism in the form of renting out holiday homes ( casas rurales ) has been added since the 1960s.
history
Finds show that Stone Age hunters and gatherers roamed the valley of the Río Deva . Cosgaya is first mentioned in the 10th century in the Crónica Albeldense in connection with another defeat of the Moors at Monte Subiedes after the Battle of Covadonga , which was already costly for them .
Attractions
- Apart from the scenic charms of the surrounding area, which invite you to go hiking, the village itself offers hardly any sights other than a granary ( hórreo ).
- The stone- built church dates from the late 18th century and was a gift from Count Servando Gómez de la Cortina, who lived in Mexico, to his homeland. A coat of arms is emblazoned above the Renaissance- style portal on the south side ; the unadorned west facade is elevated by a bell gable ( espadaña ). A chapel on the left side of the church was to be reserved forever for his brother's family, who directed its construction.
