Armando Bayo Cosgaya

Armando Bayo Cosgaya (born April 14, 1922 in Madrid , † May 3, 1972 in Havana ) was a Cuban diplomat . From 1963 to 1965 he was charge of the Republic of Cuba in the GDR .

Life

After 1959 he joined the diplomatic service of the Republic of Cuba and worked in Austria and Switzerland. In September 1960 he was a representative of the Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba at the funeral services for the late President Wilhelm Pieck in the GDR. On September 12, 1960 he was a guest at the 14th plenary session of the People's Chamber , which Walter Ulbricht elected chairman of the GDR State Council. On May 21, 1963 he took up his post as chargé d'affaires for the Republic of Cuba in the GDR. On February 3, 1965, he welcomed Héctor Rodríguez Llompart in East Berlin, who now replaced him with the rank of ambassador as the new representative of Cuba in the GDR. In February 1965 he was awarded the Cuban Literature Prize for his work on Alexander von Humboldt . This work by Armando Bayo was created during his four years as the diplomatic representative of his country in the GDR.
