The West Siang District is a district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh . The district administration is based in Aalo . The associated Hierarchical Administrative Subdivision Code (HASC) is: IN.AR.WS. The district name is derived from Siang , the river name of the Brahmaputra between Tibet and the lowlands of Assam .
geography
The West Siang District is centrally located in Arunachal Pradesh, west of the lower Siang River . The district borders in the west on Upper Subansiri and Lower Subansiri , in the north on Tibet , in the northeast on Upper Siang , in the east on East Siang and in the south on the state of Assam . The area of the West Siang district is 8325 km². The Siyom flows through the district in a mainly south-easterly direction and flows north of Pasighat into the Brahmaputra.

The district is divided into the following sub-divisions: Aalo, Mechuka, Likabali, Basar, Yomcha and Rumgong.

According to the 2011 census, West Siang District has 112,274 residents. In 2001 the census showed a population of 103,575. The gender distribution is 1.092. The literacy rate is 67.6%.
