The Kra Daadi district is a district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh . The administrative seat is in Jamin .

geography

The Kra Daadi district is located in the north of Arunachal Pradesh near the border with China . Neighboring districts are Upper Subansiri in the north, northeast and east, Lower Subansiri in the east and southeast, Papum Pare in the southwest, and Kurung Kumey in the west.

history

In 2013 the government published the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-Organization of Districts) (Amendment) Bill . It mentioned the creation of new districts. The district then emerged in 2015 from the seven eastern circles of the Kurung Kumey district . The seven circles are Chambang, Gangte, Palin, Pipsorang (also Longding Koling), Tali, Tarak Lengdi and Yangte.

According to the 2011 census, the Kra Daadi district has 46,704 inhabitants. The district is rural. There are no urban parishes.

The Kra Daadi district is one of those areas of India that are almost entirely populated by members of the "tribal population" ( scheduled tribes ). They included (2011) 46,123 people (98.76 percent of the district's population). In 2011, not a single resident belonged to the Dalit ( scheduled castes ).

Population of the district by confession

The majority of the residents have converted to Christianity in the past 100 years. The most important communities within Christianity are the Presbyterians (Reformed), Baptists, Lutherans, and Catholics. A significant part of the population (almost 29 percent) have so far remained true to their original religion (Donyi-Polo; meaning: sun and moon).
