The Dibang Valley District is a district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh . The district administration is based in Anini . The associated Hierarchical Administrative Subdivision Code (HASC) is: IN.AR.DU.

history

The Dibang Valley District was established on June 1, 1980. The area was detached from the Lohit district . On December 16, 2011, the Lower Dibang Valley District was split off from Dibang Valley and has been an independent district ever since.

geography

The Dibang Valley District is located in the far northeast of Arunachal Pradesh. Dibang Valley borders Tibet to the north and east . Lower Dibang Valley lies to the south while Upper Siang extends to the west . The area of ​​the Dibang Valley district is 9129 km². The district is drained by the Dibang River and its source and tributaries. The 4149 square kilometers across the north-east of the district extends Dibang Wildlife Refuge ( Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary ).

According to the 2011 census, the Dibang Valley district has 8004 inhabitants. The 2001 census showed a population of 7105. The gender distribution is 1.238. The literacy rate is 64.8%.
