The Dibang is a left tributary of the Brahmaputra in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam .

The Dibang arises at the confluence of the Mathun and Dri 4 km west of Anini , the administrative seat of the Dibang Valley district , in the extreme northeast of Arunachal Pradesh. The river flows through the mountains in a south-south-westerly direction. It takes in several tributaries, including Tangon and Ithun from the left and Emra from the right. The Dibang flows through the Lower Dibang Valley district and reaches the lowlands of Assam . It forms an intertwined river with numerous branches of the river. The Dibang crosses the border with Assam. An arm of the river branches off to the south near Sadiya and joins the Lohit , while the main river flows west along the northern border of the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and finally flows into the Brahmaputra.

The Dibang has a length of about 170 km. The catchment area of the Dibang borders on that of the Brahmaputra in the west and on that of the Lohit in the east and south.

There are plans for several hydropower projects along the Dibang river.
